  1. Hi I was having the same issues until I read Magnus' great "Reverse Engineering the Skymax 180" - well done and thanks to you! The Mak 127 has a slightly different (simpler) build than the 180. I was able to reduce my focus backlash by moving the focus knob very close to the back of the OTA's rear body. Place your OTA face up, loosen the two screws on the knob and push the knob up until it touches the back of the telescope and tighten the screws. My backlash went from about two turns of the knob to less than 5 degrees - finally fixed!
