Im new to all this but i was sitting outside yesterday eve (1st august) with family around 10.30 (ish) and we spotted 2 bright orange lights moving slowly from west north west to west and back again, then disappeared, we presume into the clouds after afew minutes. does anybody know what they were? we were fascinated and would love to know

Most probably chinese lanterns Joanie - it seems that they are becoming an increasingly frequent phenomenon.

I agree. Me and my family had been spotting unusual orange lights in the sky for a few months till finally we saw them fly by extremely close and could see they were sky lanterns.

I was disappointed it wasn't an alien doing some sightseeing lol
