Rookie ?

Looking north from the island of St John USVI in the western sky at about the 10 oclock position is a star that is much brighter than the others. Just curious, what am I looking at? Thanks!

The easiest way to check is by downloading a free planetarium software called Stellarium and adding your location to the programme (top lefthand side). You can get it from here - Stellarium

I would suspect after a quick look myself that your actually looking at the planet Venus and not a star. As I say though you can have a look yourself to confirm this and have a look about at any other object in the night sky.
