How to deal with lacking bands from the Hubble Legacy Archive?

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I am quite new to processing astrophotography. To learn, I am downloading some Fits files for the Hubble Legacy Archive. I am trying with M2, compositing three single filter images. The problem is that for some filters there is a well visible oblique black band, that then appears as differently colored in the final RGB composition. At present I am working with Siril for Fits and Paintshop Pro (with Topaz plugins) for the successive Tiff retouching. I tried to work with both RGB and HSL values of the regions in the band, but the result are still unsatisfactory. Do you have some tips or workflows to share in order to correct similar defects?

Thanks.
