Celestron 6SE finder scope

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm sure this is not a new topic, but here goes.

Setting up my Celestron 6SE for the first time. The red dot finder scope cannot be adjusted 'low' enough to align with the target star. Left-right 'azimuth' is fine, but up-down 'alt' simply doesn't have enough travel.

I have to adjust the red dot to hover above the target by about 1/4 of the disk and guess from there. Surely sub-optimal.

I've see folks use cardboard shims, zip ties, all sorts of fixes. Does anyone know if there is an 'official' fix? The scope cannot have been designed this way?

Thanks,

Fitting a plastic shim is how I've resolved this in the past. I think it's just that the manufacturing tolerances aren't all that accurate for red dot finders. I've encountered several RDF finders that required a shim.
