Back lash?

Recommended Posts

Backlash is the mechanical lag between when the gears start to move and when the scope effectively starts to slew.

I am not familiar with your mount, but the movement you mention could be caused by some sort of protection or limitation that prevents the scope from aiming below the horizon.

Let's leave it to the experts to assess.

Thanks. It doesn’t get that close to the horizon. I can not slew very deep into the western skies. Not really functional. Will try repositioning the weights eastward as I’ve seen on other posts and adjust backlash settings on my control. Will try contacting Meade again next week. Getting pretty discouraged. Appreciate any other ideas anyone might have.
