Actually Ken, there is another thing you could try. There is a VHF radio beacon at 144.430MHz; if you tune to, say, 144.428MHz, you might be able to hear and see the transmission coming through at 2kHz. Best if you switch on your speakers. It'll sound a bit like a Space Odyssey, it's quite unmistakable. If you can get that then at least you know that you're on the right track.
