Meade etx 80 alignment for Mumbai

Hello guys,

Just bought a Meade ETX 80 refractor (just got into this awesome hobby). I'm having trouble using the AutoStar because of issues with Mumbai's coordinates (they are not auto-fed, and the internet is throwing a gazillion different coordinates for Mumbai). Can anyone please help me with the correct coordinates?

Mumbai is: Latitude 19.0 North, or 19  00"

Longitude is: 72.9 East or 72  54" East.

If it wants + or - then both are +ve.

Where you will I suspect have a problem is the timezone.

I am not sure if or how it handles the fact that India operates on a half hour unit of time difference, you are at present either 4 1/2 or 5 1/2 hours different to us. The scope usually expects steps of 1 hour, I simply have no idea how they accomodate the 1/2 hour that is applied in India.

The ETX-80 has the 494 handset and there is a selection for Mumbai.

It may be listed under the old name of Bombay.

Using that should be all you need.
