Hi John and welcome to the forum. Any ideas regarding imaging or the "dark art" will require some careful planning, much reading and a nice deep wallet!  Steve Richards' book "Making Every Photon Count" is certainly worth investing in as it is a comprehensive read on astrophotography and will provide you with the necessary overview should you eventually head off in that direction. I too have to contend with light pollution as many of us living in cities do but at least you have your visits to Norfolk to be able to see what you've been missing - dark skies make all the difference!

Wishing you clear skies and hope you enjoy the forum

James

James, thanks for the book tip. I'm interested in photography, but holding off it a bit as I know there's a lot to it. I'm just in awe of some of the photos people produce. I might try some simple widefield photos with a DSLR (with camera lens) piggybacked to a scope an equatorial mount.

Is the T25 the one with the sliding roof? Its an obsy on wheels :-)

:) This one has a pop-up roof with a "tent bit" that goes around it. It's a great vehicle to get far away from lights in,, a comfortable base for observing.

I like the idea of an observatory on wheels... it would need stabiilisers to come down to the ground, to stop wobble on the suspension... One day!
