Adapter for Meade 105 etx ?

Hey Everyone,

My Meade 105 etx did not come with a mains adapter so I have looked in the manual and it advises that it needs a 12v connection. I went to Maplin and found a 12v adapter and plugged it in. Nothing happened.

I then tried my adapter for my laptop and it worked, however, my adapter for my computer is 18v and not 12v. Would this harm the telescope and anyone know what adapter would be suitable (cheap as possible)
