Celestron 6SE altitude slop help needed.....

Recommended Posts

With the telescope horizontal and the index marks lined up I am able to move my telescope tube and altitude axis backwards about 2mm. I took off the hand controller and cover plate exposing the (tight) clutch nut and bevel gears. When I move the telescope up and down by hand I can see the bevel gear shaft move from side to side. I also noticed this when I use the controller, the gear and shaft moves either right or left before it engages the second bevel gear. I would think there would be some sort of bushing where the shaft penetrates the metal housing to keep it from moving. Should this gear be moving side to side? can anyone help me with this?...Thanks, David
