Upgrading ready for 2 weeks in Galloway Forest

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I could do with some help in understanding the options available to me for an all in budget of about £1000, which i will have saved for a new/upgraded telescope ready for xmas/new year in Galloway Forest, Scotland.

Current:

I currently have a Skywatcher Explorer 130 GOTO which was the first telescope I bought last year.

I also have a number of eyepieces for magnification and a barlow.

Required Attributes/Areas of interest in new hardware:

I would like it to be a GOTO

I enjoy deep sky observing

Although I have not done any serious astrophotography (apart from sticking in a webcam once), I have a friend with a digital camera and we have talked about combining our technologies at some point, so it needs to have capability to do DSO imaging if I get around to that.

Questions:

Is there anything I can re-use from my old kit (goto / mount etc) or should I just and it on to a friends son?

Would you be able to suggest any set-ups that might meet the above requirements?

Many thanks,

David
