George - those links don't appear to work. From what I can gather from the first link it sounds like this might some day be applicable to improving the view through thin haze - but if a thick cloud is reflecting all the starlight back up towards the sky then you'd need some other surface above the clouds catching some of that light and putting the wavefronts back together so you could send it down to the ground. In which case you might as well have a telescope up there. Unless I'm missing something.
