Drift Alignment - can I avoid South?!

Recommended Posts

I've been fairly tired from work recently and a bit ill with a stomach bug. I'd like to do some astrophotography work tonight as it's clear, warm and really rather pleasant.

However it's a rather long trek to lug my scope out to the field and honestly I'd like to just move the gear to the back yard - however my S meridian has my neighbors giant tree in the way.

Is it possible to drift align my scope some other way that removes the requirement for a southern horizon?

I am very familiar with drift alignment for my LX90 and have the normal procedure down pretty reasonably, but avoiding this south meridian issue seems a tricky search on Google.
