Visiting the professionals.

I'll write a bit more on this and throw in some pics, but this morning, thanks to a friend of a friend, I was treated to a personal tour of the Marseille astrophysics institute who specialize in space based astronomical observation. This included a good look at the imterferometric narrowband detector that is destined to be used on the NTT and VLT. Cor blimey! Some very serious researchers were most generous with their time in talking to a gnome like me and the visit was something special.

And then I got home to find my Iris was AAPOD (Iris in dusty soil! January 18 2012 Amateur Astronomy Picture of the Day - Astronomy.FM ) and, best of all, that despite an indifferent meteo report, we have a clear sky so NGC1333 is feeding photons into Yves' Very Large (by my standards) Telescope!
