What's up with Venus tonight? Its mega mega bright and even with my own naked eyes I can see spikes coming from it.

Does that mean the seeing is bad?

It means your contact lenses have dried out

Bright objects tend to do that. With my eyesight, Venus looks like a curved bracket in the sky. In your scope, the spider may cause spikes on bright objects. Try using an aperture mask, placed in such a way as to avoid the spider.
