Newbie with a Meade 97 Series Spotter

Recommended Posts

I hope this is the right place to ask this.

I am interested in getting into astrophotograghy and someone was nice enough to loan me an old Meade 97 Series to play around with.

I think I have figured out what it will take to attach my camera (the Celestron 93635A claims to be compatible, and I understand about the need for the ring on the camera itself) but, and here comes my actual question, I am not understanding how to fit a modern filter into the mix.

According to the manual one can drop an old Series V filter in between the body and the T-Adpater, but I would like to be able to use a modern 2" filter in this setup (mainly because I have one that I use in photography already, and new ones I get for this I would like to be able to reuse in the future).

So is there any way to get such a filter into the mix or is that something that should just wait for a different 'scope?

Thanks :icon_confused:
