350D RS232 connect

I recently started to use Astrojan to drive the 350D on both image and shutter control. I built my own opto isolator in the time honoured fashion of all components in the RS232 connector - ref "beskeen" - and that wasn't that easy. Worth it as the bicoloured led indicated exposure green, no exposure red. I bought the RS232-USB convertor (FTDI chipset) from USBNow (£10.90 with p&p). Worked first time on W7-32 but 350D would not connect on my XP pc. The problem was due to WIA driver. Updated the WIA from Canon and the350D burst into life on XP.

My RS232 cable complete cost £20.

I hope this may help anyone running into the similar probs.
