  1. Hope you got my direct email Steve! What are these like as a simple planetary scope? Wayne...
  2. One of mine has one or two hot/dead? pixels. Or at least they show as white dots. Not sure about the other two as I've yet to try them. Wayne....
  3. You would have to assemble the lot with the 2" > 1 1/4" captive on the barrel?
  4. How many USB root hubs your system have? Maybe worth trying the 2nd cam on a differing one to the 1st camera. Wayne....
  5. I'd wondered about this too. Did you leave one with 880 firmware and flash the other to 900? Wayne....
  6. I bought one of those once, the Celestron branded one. It broke within a few minutes of use! Had to open up the gearbox and solder two brass gears together as they were slipping where they had been pressed together. The pot does control motor speed over a very small range of variation. Wayne.....
  7. I think it's actually one of the few webcams with a half decent housing. Probably be necessary if you went to the extent of active cooling I guess. Wayne.....
  8. We can all learn together! Here's mine from a few moments ago.
  9. Ran out of those caps Russ so had to drop that from the spec. The caps are of course in stock at FLO and have been for some weeks. It was more a way of creating awareness of the caps as they are a fairly unique item as far as we know. Quite a few went out with the white caps which to be honest no-one really wants.
  10. Last ones went to FLO today. Try them tomorrow.
  11. Can these be used as a guide cam? Not that I'm equipped for that yet but just thinking aloud and ahead. Would it be worth leaving one as original firmware so that two could be used on the same system? Wayne.....
  12. Are we up for a mass webcam imaging session tonight then? We got a few mins of Jupiter a few nights ago, but my results are nothing to shout about! Re-Collimating our 6" OO Europa certainly made using the barlow less painful! Wayne....
  13. How much have they gone up? I think the 2 I bought were 13.26 but the email invoice is not itemised.
  14. Sharpcap is nice and already shows great promise. Does anyone else notice that for the camera properties dialogue when used with the Philips cam brings up the Philips application instead of inside Sharpcap.
  15. In your opinions which LX mod is the best to go for? Whats the Amp off mod about? Wayne....
  16. Had a play with my cam last night. I'm Impressed even though I'm no seasoned imager. certainly seems to beat the lifecam and the fact we have a Gain control certainly helps. Wayne...
  17. Haha I stumble accross the result! PSU turned up at last then? ! I'm just glad this week is over, I think I've finished with the horrendous dust I've been creating with the building work. I'll be glad to be at work again next week.
  18. Better to use one as the original built into the original Webcam lens has been removed. The sensors are very sensitive to IR in particular. Try viewing plantlife with it to see what I mean. Wayne....
  19. The timless (pun intended) 555 can be configured to act as a PWM controller too. I recomended a microcontroller as they really are all the rage at the moment and in the case of the PICaxe is a nice easy to use device which can be programmed in a BASIC like language or graphically and the little PICaxe8 is just a couple quid. I'll have a look in Maplins later and see if they got any 4 wire fans with the PWM input. Not totally sure but I thought most PC style fans were brushless now anyway and therefore basically little 3 phase motors?
  20. Just chucked a Bridgeport Interact out! I think it's due to be a mooring for a boat!
  21. It is too high IMO as a manufacturer of such items. BUT to be honest these things are not going to be mass produced in China the bubble would burst very quickly as there's not THAT much of a market. If there was I'd be selling a few a day and our forum sponsers would be stocking them. I recently noted that some China/Hong Kong ebay traders are now getting a bit greedy and I've seen them for sale at about 16 gbp + quite a postage charge. That makes me quite happy as mine are still cheaper IMO (of course) for a better quality item. Wayne....
