Nice image there of a not often imaged galaxy.

Superbly detailed image. Must have been excellent seeing.

Nice image what sort of FWHM were you getting?

Steve,
Just seen this message. I bought some Polytrol and I have painted my 2.7m Pulsar Dome. I had thought the dome colour had faded in the sun but it is now back to the original color and looks really great. Thanks for the thread. You now have to buy it direct from the company and it took just a few days to get here. Give people something to do now we are at home. They are at: https://www.owatroldirect.co.uk/product/polytrol/

Mark,
Do try the new weighted batch preprocessing script as it is a real improvement on the older BPP.
I thought the problem with dark scaling CMOS is there are two populations of pixels which accumulate at different rates, the dark current and the FPN. Easier to just use same time dark exposures.

Both images are superb and very evocative. I really like RGB image but the narrow band ain't too shabby either 🙂

Superb looking image of a faint object. And really well processed. I have not managed 20 odd hours imaging and have a 10 Micron and also live in Berkshire. Great result.

I don't think it has to do with individual photons energy, but rather their wavelength. Longer the wavelength, less chance to interact with matter. It is actually mismatch between wavelength of particle and atomic structure of the matter. So both long wavelengths go thru (like radio waves / microwaves), but also x-rays and gamma - very short, so cross section is small.
Anyway it can be easily checked. Do google search for "Is plastic IR transparent", and "Is plastic UV transparent". Results should give you some hints which is more likely culprit.
E= h x c / lambda E=Energy; lambda = wavelength
Coronado II 60mm Solar Telescope------Problem
in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups

I have a problem with my Coronado II 60mm Solar Telescope. The images of the sun are very dark and there is little detail. I have looked at the diagonal and the main lens and they are both clear, unmarked and not suffering crazing. Does anyone know of someone in the UK who could look at the scope and if necessary fix it?? Thanks for any help.
