What is the worm end-float like when loaded ?

    Michael

With the scope on the float is tight enough so that it does not move laterally when slewing.  Havent checked to see how it behaves when manually turning the wheel but I will since you mention it.

  2. Have been having a bit of difficulty clearing phd2 guiding assistant due to no south movement this spring and decided to try out looking at manually turning the worm gear with the belt off to feel backlash that way to help adjusting and notice that with my 9.25 sct off the mount the mount head responded north and south right off with the slightest turn of the  belt wheel, but with the sct on I could turn the wheel say an 8th of a turn in either direction before the mount head moved.  Is this usual ?  I could not tighten the gear mesh any further or audible binding would occur.

  3. HI ! My EQ6r has developed a power drain in the last couple weeks. Sometime gets a low power indicator. Power suppy is good and all electric contacts just coated with electric spray which sligtly improved things but both axis still pull over 4 amps on slew rate 8.  Hypertuned 18 months ago and has been doing fine since but 2 weeks ago it first stopped running, Then after heating the room and lowering humidity it started to work again, but with high power usage. 10 kilo load. Any ideas ? Motors ? Motherboard ?

    "sct' s with correctors."

Do you mean "SCTs with Coma Correctors / Focal Reducers" ?

Or Edge HD SCTs, which have correction lenses inbuilt ?

My Meade SCT with a Baader Coma Corrector behaves like the "Too Close/Too Far Away" diagrams suggest.

    Michael

Well I dont know what to tell you, but the experts at Altair and at Starizona say it is only good for refractors.

My scope is s standard C9.25  sct so the reducer/corrector is needed if I want to get down to an F6.3 ~~ FL.
