The June Bootid meteor shower is active each year from June 26th until July 2nd. It peaks on June 27th. Normally the shower is very weak, but occasional outbursts produce a hundred or more meteors per hour.
The shower's radiant lies in the constellation Bootes (right ascension 14h 56m, declination 48o).
The source of the June Bootids is periodic comet 7P/Pons-Winnecke.
June Bootid meteoroids hit Earth's atmosphere with a velocity of 18 km/s (40,000 mph).They are considered slow-moving meteors.
