orion finderscope

is the orion 8x50 right angled finderscope a decent one, im about to buy one for my omc140 as an upgrade, just want to make sure its worth having before parting with a lot of cash for a finder

I have the RACI version of the Orion 8x50 and I reckon it's pretty good. I use one on my 6" refractor alongside a Rigel Quikfinder RDF.

I've got one on my 8" newt and it's definitely worth it. I had no end of problems kneeling on the floor trying to look through the straight through one it came with (dob mount). The optic quality is good and build is excellent, trust me mine dropped off the scope when it got very very cold last winter and it survived no problem. Wish they did it in White though!

Only difficulty is aligning it, it doesnt have the usual system, one of the adjustment knobs is spring loaded, not sure why, it's just a but fiddley.

I have the Orion on my Sky Watcher 200P and I would recommend it without reservation! No difficulty in lining up for me...
