Polar Scope setup

I've just received my SkyWatcher Polar Scope from FLO and put it in my EQ3-2 mount. I'm following Astro-Baby's guide to configuring it.

I'm a bit stuck however. When rotating the mount to get Polaris at the transit point like this :

the mount is angled like this with the weights up in the air :

Does the reticule need to be rotated somehow so I can get the mount at a better position or are you supposed to do this without the scope attached?

Take off the scope and weights first - makes it much easier to line up with Cass and Uma
