iPhone as a manual Goto?

Hello

Does anyone on here use there iPhone/iPod as a sort of manual goto system

As in attaching the phone to the scope like you would a finder scope then using an app like sky safari to track where the scope is pointing

How successful/accurate is it?

Compass won't work within a few feet of metal so unless you own an entirely plastic scope then its a no go
