M51 whirlpool with DSLR

Morning all:hello2:...hope many of you were able to do some imaging last night. I photographed M51 the whirlpool galaxy with my DSLR. heres what i did:

Failand 8.4.11 4th attempt at imaging M51

Orion 150 6"

Canon 20d

800 asa

30 subs 100 seconds

20 darks 100 seconds

20 bias 1/4000th sec

stacked in DSS

Processed in photoshop 6 & pixinsight

I know it falls way short of what else is on this site:eek:, so i would appreciate any advice.

Funny enough, I did the same last night. Here's my effort

Canon 350D - Borrowed from a fellow SGL memeber

6 x 30sec @ ISO 800 + 2 x 30sec darks at same ISO

Processed in DeepSky Stacker and cropped in Photoshop CS

Hi Malc...thats a great image. i tried to run it through pixinsight to try and get rid of some of the LP, but without much luck....can you PM me a larger version?

The image would be about the same - I just cropped out the main part.

Just did some tweeking of the image to reduce the red - looks better IMO
