First solar viewing

Hi all

Been away for a long time. Must be two years now considering my daughter is 2! :rolleyes:

Getting back into astronomy and aiming to purchase an 8inch Celestron SGT sometime (or at least start saving). In the meantime have been observing the moon, saturn and now the sun through my Bresser Skylux.

Wow...never looked at the sun using the projection method before! I didn't realise I would see sunspots...4 I counted! I feel like a little kid again. Great fun! Looks like Im not gonna get much work today.

I've never used projection either for solar viewing, sounds good.

I used to use projection a lot, and could see a lot of detail. Its a fun way to see the sun.

Since I got my SCT (totally unfit for projection!!) I use a solar filter. Baader Solar film is cheap, safe, and shows a lot more fine detail than projection.
