Newbie looking for tips

Hi All,

I've long been an admirer of the wonders of our Solar System and beyond, however I have only just purchased my first telescope and am really excited to get going!

The only problem is, I live approximately 500 metres from Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport! Talk about light pollution!

Does anybody have any tips on where I could go (preferably locally for the week-nights!) to enjoy some dark skies?

Also, when is the best time of night to view Saturn?

Many thanks for taking the time to read this - I just hope that in the years to come I will be as knowledgeable as the people on this forum! :)

Hi Welcome' you can buy a light pollution filter which goes onto your eyepiece to cut out some of the glare. With saturn it is up now between south and south east it looks like a yellow star while looking at it with a naked eye.Mark
