Hi Barry and welcome to the forum.

So much has changed be it the choice of gear and their prices. Astrophotography has certainly come on in leaps and bounds and although some of the kit is expensive, given the results that can now be obtained you could argue that imaging has become relatively cheaper over the years. Glad to hear you've come back to the fold!

Hello and Welcome to SGL.

You certainly seem to have the right level of kit to start both types of imaging (Planets /DSO's) Why not dive straight in, that Mak will get some cracking images of Saturn at the moment.

Hi there Barry, Welcome to SGL :icon_eek:

For astro-photography you'll find the book Making Every Photon Count (by SGL's very own steppenwolf) helpful in getting started. It's full of advice aimed at the imaging novice, including choosing the right equipment, tips 'n' tricks and lots of other vital stuff.

Hi Barry, and welcome.

Just for info, I work in Peterborough - it has a lot of astronomy history thanks to George Alcock!

I shall be giving an astronomy talk and a few short courses at the City college later this year if it is of interest!

Kind regards,

Andrew
