Carina Nebula

Hi

I took the following image of the Carina Nebula between 01:00 and 03:00 this morning. It's the first time I tried out my new low-profile focuser fitted to my Orion XT10i telescope and also the first time I took an image at prime focus. I used to do eyepiece projection using a Baader Hyperion, but the results were not so good.

Here are some details about the image:

Mount: EQ6 Syntrek

Telescope: Orion XT10i

Camera: Canon 550D unmodified

Filters: Baader MPCC

Guiding: None

Software: DeepSkyStacker, PixInsight

Images: 180x15sec ISO1600 Lights; 25x Darks; 25x Flats

Thanks for all the comments. I must say I was truly surprised by what can be achieved with only 15sec subs and that with a last quarter moon in the sky.

I live in Montagu, Western Cape which is a green/blue zone according to the light pollution map.
