Am I messing up my eyepieces?

Recommended Posts

Generally when I am done, I leave the most used couple of eyepieces in the EP holder on my telescope, with covers on obviously, and my scope stays in the basement with something on top of it to protect it from dust, I was just wondering if this was damaging it?

As long as dust and damp can't get to the equipment I don't think it will do any harm at all. If the scope is cooler in the basement it should take less time to reach outside temperature for observing so thats a bonus.

As long as it's covered so dust doesn't settle on the primary mirror I thi k it will be OK.

I would personally move the eyepieces and place them with the rest in a box or case.
