get a pair of long nose pliers form any hard ware store ,turn the triangle located on the plate at the bottom of the lampost when the plate comes of you will see a switch similar to a home light switch flick it of and replace the cover rember to switch it back on when you have done,failing that a tine of blaqck or silver hammerite paint,and paint half if the clear shade tou may need a long pole

Just as an update..

I phone Hertfordshire county council.. Explained that i wished for something to be done about the street lighting because the light was shining straight into my back & front bedrooms. They said within 7 days!

It has been 5 days and still nothing yet but im sure the ball is rolling..

I will call them again on Monday.

i shook mine as it was annoying me (and *cough* 'it was annoying my kids sleep pattern'*cough* ...and the bulb popped..result!

altho its metal so dont go trying it on the concrete ones lol
