Which is best

Recommended Posts

There are supporters for both type... I've just collimated my 200P using a Hotech laser and it was really easy. The self centering design of the Hotech means that the laser is dead central, and not off to one side, which can happen apparently when using the eyepiece clamp screws with normal lasers and I guess with non laser collomation devices ?

I have a laser-mate deluxe from Orion (USA). Someone else here on SGL described it "like playing golf" - you adjust until the beam goes in the hole.

Easy as pie; not necessarily more accurate, but definitely easier.

I use a Cheshire personally and an Antares self centering adapter and find it simple to use and accurate. Less than 5 minutes each time. The laser itself has to be collimated before accurate alignment of the mirrors can be achieved. To much pfaffing about for my liking. Just my opinion though!
