Saturn - 18th March 2011

Finally got some clear sky so out I went to have a look at Saturn.

It's very small compared to Jupiter but I was treated to some good steady seeing.

Nice sketch David. I was out on Saturn too yesterday evening with my 12". Could not make out much more detail than you have shown. Like you say, the seeing was pretty good. Makes a change!

Thanks Seb, I'm not sure there is all that much more detail on Saturn - did you manage to see any remnants of the dragon storm ? - I couldn't.

I had hints of a lighter shading just to the north of the NEB on the following side, but nothing convincing. Had a better view of the storm last month with my 8.5" - the main area of it was right on the CM back then, which was nice.
