smerral
We had a lovely clear horizon tonight and I managed to grab Mercury for the first time! Mak 127 with x2 Barlow. 400 frames stacked out of 2000.
mikeknowle
I've never seen Mercury. On my list! But I have trees to the West and the East! How come it's so white/blue. Anyway, when's the best time to see it at the mo.?

King
Nice to see a go at Mercury. I've yet to verify I can see low enough if the cloud every clears but I also want a shot at it.
Demonperformer
Anyway, when's the best time to see it at the mo.?Maximum elongation is 23rd. Any evening between now and then go out around sunset (or even just before) and look west and find Jupiter (still pretty bright). Mercury is a couple of degrees above it.HTH
smerral
Yes, follow DP's advice to see it. You do need a good cloud free western horizon. The colours are difficult to get right - due to atmospheric dispersion the planet flashes all the colours of the rainbow when viewed on the screen.....
