A very quick M51

I had to laugh at this it looks pretty pathetic full frame ....but its quite detailed at 100%

exposures were 3x600s in Red 3x420s in Green and 3x530s in Blue

Very nice Peter. Looking really good. That scope sure is a photon Hoover......

I also think I have cracked the AG8 collimation now and the spacer I required to get the chip distance tight arrived today so fingers crossed for my own first light - I may also choose m51.......

It is really nice to see features that are also picked up in Hubble's exposure. I can see you making some really astounding images with tat 'scope when you really get down to it!!!

Oh lovely and makes me feel better that my MN190 is very close to that, just not as fast.

Great processing and would hate to think what some proper exposure times would do. Probably suck it right out of the sky.

Detail into the core, thats impressive. Galaxy sky has its limitations widefield but this scope can image at pretty high resolution.

Hello Jerry. The general flow of process in most of my images use Ron Wodaski's standard curve method in photoshop. I process curves with different strengths and layer them, depending on whats in the frame. On this shot of m51 i made a separate layer for the core of the galaxy and applied wavelet sharpening to tighten up detail. I also made a pseudo luminance layer out of the RGB data so i could give the colour layer some noise reduction without damaging the detail. thats it.

Oh yeah...No darks applied just flats and bias frames and hot pixel removal average combined. hope this helps

It's an astonishing result with the trademark perfect colour. You could stack a few Barlows in that scope and still nail the galaxy a couple of hours!!!
