I believe the Sunderland Astronomical Society and others are getting together up there soon. You should pop along. Durham Society may be closer for you but I reckon all would be welcome.

I also plan on using it for my own needs

Looking for a new DSLR camera to go with the 200P I'll be ordering this week, currently looking at either the Canon 1000D or the Nikon D3100, both at the same price.

Any suggestions?

In regards of a camera, I have a 1000d following a review I read in Sky at Night magazine probably around a year ago. I have been very impressed with the images that are possible with it and I am using it unmodded.

Thanx for that Andy, I got the 1000D today very nice looking camera.

Order the scope this Friday, so by mid next week I should be up and running with 8 days off work to get my head around it.
