AURORA ALERT

Aurora section director Ian Brantingham reports that a coronal hole

strike occurred from 0600 1st March and is now approaching its

maximum.

Be on the lookout for auroras as far south as southern England.

No sign of the auroral ring over the UK, it seem to be extended over Siberia. It was level 9 earlier in the evening but it was still pointing the wrong way.

There is a haze over us at the moment so I doubt there'd be much to see anyway :)

I spent an hour setting up a first light imaging run of my first narrowband filter, I was busy struggling to focus on a star when I look up to see why I can't see it and wham - almost complete cloud cover.

It's that thin, nasty, misty stuff that's almost completely opaque. Grrrr :)
