Best time of year

This may be a stupid question, here goes anyway.

Is there a best time of year for astronomy, does hold or cold weather affect viewing in any way?

Winter time is best for astronomy due to the cold darker nights.

The colder the night the clearer the sky.....

At the moment there are plastic bags, fences and various pets at altitude over our house, plenty of targets indeed!

There's a lot to be said for being out under the stars in a t-shirt and a cold beer!!

I'm fairly new to this lark myself but I wouldn't recommend learning to use a first scope in the winter

when the cold is nibbling at your toes and fingers. Do it in the warm weather when you can relax and take your

time over it. That way you'll be ready for action when the winter comes and you can spend more time observing.

Winter is the best or should be, thats if we dont keep getting plauged by low pressure systems as we have been this year.
