Starlight Xpress drivers Windows 7

Recommended Posts

I am having some difficulty installing the drivers for my Starlight Xpress SXVF-M25C on a laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate. I fall at the first hurdle because although the PC signifies that it knows I have plugged the camera in (two tone 'gong') I don't get a 'found new hardware' notice so cannot manually locate the drivers downloaded from the SX website.

Any ideas.

Hi Ant, I have got it sorted - phew!! You are more than partly right, thanks. I first of all had to remove all the original install from the CD and then download some drivers form the SX website.

When I connected the camera to the USB port, I didn't get the 'new hardware found' notice as posted and I found out why - the original 'Echo2' was still there but not functioning as there were no drivers so I disabled that. Then, when I plugged in the camera, I got the 'new hardware found' notice but no drivers were found (correct, I expected that) but there was still no option to locate drivers manually and that is where my experiments and your suggestion coincide!! Echo2 was in the Device Manager but with a yellow exclamation mark against it so I selected install new drivers and all is now well.

What a pain but thank you for your kind input, much appreciated!
