Irridium 80 the ISS and STS-133

Recommended Posts

First one of these for ages ...

Heavens above gave an Iridium flare a few min before the ISS pass tonight so i had to be a bit creative with the framing to try and capture both and a starfield with the Pleiades and Taurus in the frame as well...

I took 13s subs starting before the Flare and continuing until after the ISS had cleared the FOV... Maximum stacking was used in DSS to have all the satellite and ISS detail against the starfield...

15x30s @ ISO 800 Canon 500D with Canon 24-105 f4lL IS USM on static tripod.

Last night was a rush job to get teh image up as soon as possible after the pass had taken place...

I had a bit more time to re-process the data tonight...

So...

Final touch up of the image...

The background now comes from a median stack of all the frames with the ISS and Iridium 80 coming from a Max stack of the same frames.. blended in CS3
