How long can an AVI be for Saturn

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I know from imaging Jupiter than if you stack frames from an AVI that lasted over about 100s the imaged suffered from planetary rotation.

As Saturn has less surface detail (correct me if I'm wrong) can I assume that I can get away with longer AVI's? Perhaps several minutes long?

Thanks

Pete

About twice as long as Jupiter because of the smaller size of the disk. How long you get away with does depend on how good your resolution is - if you're resolving fine details on the disk like those posted by johnh, a couple of minutes is likely to be your limit. If you're only resolving the bands, there's no real limit ... rotational blurring of the bands won't matter.
