Nice starter scope Robbie, as regards the Sun filter, the best place for that is in the bin after you have put a hammer through it! They are extremly dangerous, as they can crack due to the heat from the Sun, resulting in instant blindness.

The safe and cheapest way to observe the Sun, is to have a filter that goes in front of the telescope, not inside. Baader solar filter film is cheap and gives a white light view.

Before you point the scope at the Sun, read as much as you can, or better still find an experience observer / local astro club and let them show you.

Unless you are more than 100% certain ---------------- don't, blindness is permenant!
