Marcus,

Here are some details on the 250mm PDS,as stated still too heavy for the EQ5.

Technical details:

-- Aperture: 254mm

-- Focal length: 1200mm

-- Photographic speed: f/4.7

-- Main mirror: parabolic, diffraction limited

-- Secondary spider vanes: 0.5mm ultra thin vanes for less diffraction spikes

-- weight 14,5kg with rings and dovetail bar holder.

Marcus, FYI the 250pds will work on the EQ5 - but its the absolute limit and for visual only. It will shake a little but you can get away with it (I do :) ) I dont think it will damage the mount, but either way im prepared to take the risk. You'll need 3x counterweights and once fully loaded you wont have much chance moving it :o

Note if you havent used a large scope before it is a bit unweildy.

Just to add motors may not work with the eq5 and 250pds - only manually moved via the slow adjusters or taking clutch off

No worry - we've all been there :) certainly worth taking time to decide as many people have commented on making errors in past purchases

my first was a SW200p - was in shop and couldnt resist impulse buy - the drive home was guilt filled, but once got unpacked and outside no looking back

14.5kg? so 6kg packaging... must be well packed then.
