The Moon in Colour

Something a little different here. Not hi res mosaics but straightforward DSLR shots ... or rather one straightforward DSLR shot, in natural colour

and with very strong saturation to emphasise the very subtle colours of the lunar surface

2011 Feb 17, 2340 UT (9 hours before full moon). Canon 40D, 400mm & x2 teleconverter, 1/400 sec at f/8, ISO 200.

Ace!, love them. The moon is an excellent AP subject, and all methods of revealing it should be used.

Shows what is possible without a telescope.

Even the natural version has hints of very subtle brown around plato which you bring out in the saturated. The moon does show colour it is just very desaturated.
