2 scope dovetail bar

Hi all,

I was thinking of making my own with some aluminium bar but the cost for the aluminium is quite alot. however, i've found this website below that's selling this bit of kit that would be perfect for me. I'm just wondering if anyone has used this website before or if anyone has the bar that I'm looking at buying. Also does anyone think it would be compatible with my HEQ5.

It will be compatible with your HEQ5 but can you choose the ring size as those ones might be the wrong size for you. Also with the rings being fixed you might have problems getting balance.

Doesn't look that cheap, especially with US sales tax, shipping and then import duty on top.

How about AC694 Gemini-Bar (if you want it in silver it's £10 cheaper from the sister companies of Scopes'n'Skies or Pulsar Optical for some reason)?

I think it's because the silver one is unpainted but this looks a good option.

Sorry, I meant the black ones are cheaper directly from Astro Engineering but the silver ones are cheaper from the sister companies (and black>silver at one, but silver>black at the other)

That is strange,. I supose you chose the best place to buy from depending on which colour you want.

Thanks guys, they are all great options and the cheaper gemini bars could be the ones but I was specifically looking for something like the bracket I saw as it included the scope ring holder which I dont have yet for my guilde scope. Unless you could recommend some good priced guilde scope rings for my ST102 scope that would also fit the genini bar?

The problem with having a fixed scope ring could make it hard to get balance. The first time I set up two refractors on a duel mounting bar it took me the best part of an hour to get balance. It may not have been possible if one was fixed.

It might seem the cheapest option, and it might work for you, but it could be an expensive mistake if it doesn't work.

Don;t see why not.

to consider. Slightly more expensive, but various sizes available.

I bought a length of 100 x 10 aluminium flat bar and fitted two Vixen pucks on the top surface and a 300mm vixen dovetail below.

I can run a 6" f3.5 along side a 4" Genesis all sitting on the HEQ5pro..
