A fine clear moonless night, stars twinkling, the 10 inch dob cooling!

Out with the lists of unseen targets from reviews of the DSS images..charts in hand...

First an attempt at a low dec one..NGC 2811..Should be bright but its just visible with averted vision at a dec of 16 degrees...A goond start...Had a quick peep at NGC 3115 a bright spindle galaxy, still there!

Another quick peak at NGC 3166/69 which were showing on pocket sky atlas in the area. Very nice view in the 6mm..

So on to some more new ones. Found NGC 2695 in Hyda. Next to a faint field star. But hey what are those two other ones nearby on the other side of that bright star but not on the atlas..Turns out to be NGC 2268 & 2269 a faint pair of galaxies. An unexpected pleaseure.

Finally another one that I have missed before above the plough BGC 4521. Now that is a nice bright edge on oval galaxy...A fine one to end the night on as the damp is now winning!

Great evening, perhaps the best so far in 2011 other than the supernova sighting of course..
