hahaha i was going to finish up the packing tonight but then thought i couldnt be bothered b ut everything will be sorted as soon as im up tomorrow (after a coffee or two lol). it wont take me long if i can concentrate on doing 1 thing at once and not a million like i normally do lol

And the footy/pub thing sounds good, i think it needs to be a topic bought up between everyone. sooooooo excited now its beyond a joke, i doubt i will sleep tomorrow night just watching the clock instead lol

MjrTom / Mark,

You say you have finished packing, I have not even started and i am the one giving you a lift -ha ha. Will be sorted in time - don't worry.

What is everyones fascination with Reds vs Blues, what about the All Blacks vs the French on Sunday???????????

Haha yeah I know Ian :)

To be honest I am more interested in sunday as well.

That's what happens when you live in a rugby town surrounded by other rugby towns :evil6:

I hope you guys and gals are packing your snow wear it is hovering just above freezing in the garden at the moment and it's only going to be colder at altitude and the early hours of the night :)

Jupiter is looking particulary nice this evening in the crisp air.

....another for Sunday morning here, and also not started packing although everything is down from the loft. Busy night tonight!

Hope my little tent is up to it!

Just incase any person is worried about the weather.

Here is a link to a live webcam feed, based on the out skirt's of Buxton.

And here also, is the forecast.

Live Buxton Weather

I'm going UP today to help with setting up, and then off tomorrow at 10am.

It's been a long time coming. But now it's finally arrived.

I can't wait for tomorrow:hello2:

No packing done whatsoever and I will be there tomorrow onwards for the duration. Might sound like a despot but this is my eighth star party this year and so far I have had three decent nights viewing so forgive me if I don't get too worked up. Still, there's meeting you lot and the events should luck fail me again.

Gonna make a start on packing tonight.

The weather is looking dry for the weekend but the cloud ain't looking great... and it's gotten very cold very quickly. Got to 0*C here in Huddersfield last night. Get togged up peeps :)

Just to put my mind at ease I thought for the life of me that Green-Witch (Telescopes and Binoculars from Green Witch of Cambridge, the Astronomy Specialists) were attending on the Saturday with stuff to sell but looked again and cant see any reference to it. :)

I really need to get hold of a decent 1.25" diagonal for the weekend but not got time to pick one up by tomorrow...

I dont suppose anyone is planning to sell one at the astroboot?

Lee from Green Witch confirmed that he would be attending in an email to me yesterday.

I have sorted stuff but not actually packed yet - I have tomorrow afternoon off work so I'll drive home, load up the car and hope I have everything - at least I live close by if I've forgotten anything major!

I'm hoping to see the transit of Io on Saturday night - what targets are you most looking forward to?

Feeew! that's good news was worrying quite a bit.

I am looking forward to the Veil in my 16" from a dark site with an oiii filter and also a few galaxies etc. never seen a glob from a dark sky either so this will be good. (I hope!).

Yeah ditto really want to see the veil in my scope but not holding my breath :)

Definitely to have a good crack at jupiter and the io transit in a properly cooled and collimated mak! As many decent globs and planetaries as I can get through, and the veil in either my 4", or if I save up enough jaffa cakes, Shane's scope 'Hardy' :-)

Both Green-Witch and Modern Astronomy will be there from Saturday morning.

I have just returned home after a full, and fun packed day getting everything ready for you nice people.

I can report. The ground is dry, under foot.

Wow. It's almost upon us!

Managed to repair the water leak on the car, which was causing some concern.

Got a new camera, Nikon D3100 and remote shutter release cable too. Exciting stuff!

Haven't used the tent for 6 years so I had that out on Tuesday for a check - all good!

--I have a spare sheet of primary red, 1.2m x .5m if anyone needs it - a fiver is all.

I'm loaded with questions, so I'm going to be brave and try to talk to people this weekend - am usually pretty shy!

Wondering too if anybody could help me collimate my Exp 200p please - I need a little tutorial if possible.

Off to finish packing........WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

edit:

One last thing; BIG BIG thanks to James for making this happen!
