Action plan for newbie trying DSI

I've tried to gather some information from various threads and I think I might just be able to photograph M42 reasonably

  1. Piggyback the camera on the scope and set exposure to 20s
  2. Insert highest magnification so as to see the stars moving and track them manually - no motors :(
  3. Take a dark frame by covering the camera lens
  4. Take the actual pictures over about 5 mins
  5. Put into Deep Sky Stacker

Is this correct?

Thanks in advance!
