At last, some Sun!

Peter Drew

Recommended Posts

First clear day for ages. Despite a slight milky haze the Sun displayed an impressive row of prominences, several near limb filaments showing good 3D "effect" and 3 hotspots with flare potential. Well worth an imagers attention. (125mm F10/PST Ha scope X 50)

The minimum requirement for using an A80MF for Ha viewing seems to be a front mounted energy rejection filter (ERF) and a modded PST at the rear. Neither component inexpensive but the end results compare favourably with bespoke instruments costing many times the price.
